Snow and Avalanche Safety Training

The snow and avalanche safety courses are intended for those who wish to become autonomous in the mountains or high mountains. We now offer summer mountaineering courses to develop your rock climbing skills on ridges and glaciers. In winter our courses are based on snow and avalanche safety for freeride and ski touring.

Presentation

Off-piste skiing is not without risk and it is important to be aware of this before venturing into the mountains.

To make the most of the mountains without putting yourself in danger, it is important to know the risks involved and to be prepared.

In order to know how to react in the event of a problem and to adopt the right reflexes, the high mountain guides of the Agence des Guides des 3 vallées offer you to follow various avalanche safety training courses ranging from the use of safety equipment to avalanche rescue methods. The snow will no longer hold any secrets for you.

With the help of our mountain guides, you will develop the essential skills to help you make the right decisions in the event of an avalanche.
Our mountain guides will teach you how to use your equipment and show you the fastest shovelling techniques. You will have the opportunity to practice as a group, as it is important to keep in mind that we are responsible for each other.

The safety equipment required for off-piste skiing is as follows:

  • Avalanche transceiver (DVA) : Each member of the group must carry this small electronic device which sends a radio signal to find the victim buried under the snow.
  • A probe : Once the victim has been located, the probe must be planted to find the precise location of the victim before shovelling.
  • Shovel : Each member of the group should have one. By mastering shovelling techniques, individuals will be able to shovel efficiently and save time.
